shawn heard stone sour play and wanted corey as the singer of slipknot. slipknots singer then was anders colsefini, and even though shawn wanted him to stay on doing backing vocals and tribal percussion, he left the band. when slipknot was about ot release their first album, their rhythm guitarist left (i dunt remember why) and they needed a new one, so corey got jim to join slipknot
