Don McLean - The meaning of American Pie (UPDATE)

Back

This is a revision to previously posted videos. I was fortunate enough to go to the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake IA and speak firsthand with many who were there including Tommy Allsup who flipped the coin with Ritchie Valens. This version corrects some factual errors and includes new footage from the SURF

Im new to the net a week or two ago My granddaughter introduced me to YOUTUBE. Ive been going to all the vidios of this song. hours gone. too bad. crazy about this tune. who said the music died? We've still listening to it.I guess he couldnt say the day truth died!

This is an awesome vid, thank you. This is one of my favorite songs of all time.
However, I'm surprised there wasn't a picture of the moon landing or something when he mentions being "lost in space", as I'm sure that's what he was referring to.
The song's in chronological order and the moon landing was in 1969 just like Woodstock and Altamont, which he mentioned around the same time.
Okay! That was just on my mind! I'm done being a nerd now! :P

Lenin was influenced by Marx but since the rest of the song is about the 60s it's probably Lennon since Lenin died in 1924

lenin read a book on marx would make sense but not in the context of the whole song...
i mean the song is referring to the changes the 60s brought symbolized by buddy holly's death...

I've always liked this song, but I had no clue the lyrics held so much hidden references.
