your so dumb.. the small wires of the steel wool heat up as the current passes across the batterie, like the inside of a light bulb (filament) and heat up to realy high temperatures!

Nice old-school stuff; I learned that in the BS; I prefer a cedar tree and a lighter or flint and steel, but that's just my humble opine...cedars have all you need, from fluff to tinder to kindling, all in one nice waterproof package! Try it sometime..WORKS IN THE RAIN if you gather under a big tree and set the fire under it after you trim out an area of branches; set the fire against the base of the tree, move it out after it's established. The tree will sap out and survive just fine...

it depends on the density and how compact the metal is, if its that thin of metal like in that steal wool, then its very simple.
