Yeah, but most peope believe there are no do overs. If you believe in God and find out when you die there is none, no harm done. But if you don't believe and die find out there is a God, then what?

Right, you see what I mean. One caveat is that the more remarkable a claim, the more evidence you need to prove it.

Personally, with the ghost example, I would consult my doctor about my general mental health and take a hard look at other possibilities. But if I couldn't explain it and it was right before my eyes, sure, I would too.

We don't. I believe in God because I was raised to believe in Him. It was not a personal choice, but I was taught it as a young child and it is so ingrained I cannot shake that belief. But if I had not been raised that way, I could have just have easily become an athiest. Either way, you can't prove or disprove God's existence. The scientific method is not designed to prove that which transcends sensual perception.
