BackHere we see Steve Jobs at a keynote in 1983 showing for the first time ever the famous "1984" ad by Ridley Scott to an exclusive audience. The ad was shown on tv shortly after that only once during the 1984 Superbowl & never aired again & is considered to be one of the greatest ads of all time.

dominance... when IBM looked up
to Apple for it's last hope in
making themselves useful Apple takes
out this ad that basicly says the doors

Steve is wrong again. Apple and IBM is not dominating the PC market anymore.

Of course, Microsoft wasn't even founded until about 10 years later. But whatever, I guess those tiny details don't matter to you.

Okay, sorry, my mistake. But my point is that they didn't even release Windows until after the Macintosh was released, and Microsoft didn't have hardly any power until 1995, over 10 years after this keynote. So Steve Jobs would literally have to be a fortune teller to predict that Windows would take over the industry, because there's no way to predict that. Ridiculing Jobs for seeing IBM as the problem in 1984, not 1995, is an ignorant thing to do.

The only thing that prevents it is the IBM PC had an open architecture and many "clones" were produced. Still IBM's architecture prevails. Microsoft succeeded through great cockups of others: Digital, IBM and Apple. In the early days Microsoft (too) portrayed IBM as the evil empire. Funny how things change.
