Its a MESA- FYI when your playing level even approaches this, the first thing to go is the massive distortion (i.e Van Halen, Sat, etc) which is the crutch beginners and lesser players run to because it evens out all the hammers, pulls and missed notes, and makes them sound kool.

I have to say that with Satriani, you are right- I like some of the wild intervals Vai pulls off (no pun intended) but the tapping stuff bores be to distraction.
