Self Destruction
BackThe Stop the Violence Movement was formed by rapper KRS-One.
During a Boogie Down Productions and Public Enemy concert, a young fan was killed in a fight; galvanized into action, KRS-One founded the Stop the Violence Movement. Comprised of some of the biggest stars in contemporary East Coast hip-hop, the movement released a single ('Self Destruction') in 1989 with all proceeds going to the National Urban League.

I just did a paper on women being exploited in music videos, I also pulled different music genre's to see how many times women were called names, shown as sex symbols or viloence was directed to them. And of course the rap had more verus some alternative, the hip hop came in second.

Rap music is the worse in exploiting black women in their videos. The After Dark videos are plain pitiful how woman show their bodies and dance to the bytch and whore lyrics. I understand this is a living for many women but pride and dignity is worth more to me than any amount of money. You do not see the women being demoralized in a Maroon 5 video or Garth Brooks video.

I saw somethin on video girls, an they got the girl from a strip club in GA. The girls were not paid, an one girl said, well at least I'm getting exposure.

Great. I don't if you have seen this but, on election I saw people from all walks of life, your thugs etc. Shocked..yes I was. I'm glad they voted. But after he won, some of the same people who said they were inspired went back to their deviant behavoir, that weekend killings an everything happen. I'm like wait, your inspired but your killing each other over the colors blue an red. My sisters friend who is not in a gang, stabbed 4 wearing a blue shirt. This upsets me.

I am glad that people of all status got out to vote. What a wonderful thing that was even for "my thugs". It is sad that how one day we all came together and voted in Barack then back to business as usual. I did not expect for an immediate change but over time I hope there will be. Sorry for your sisters friend stabbing, it is senseless over wearing some colors no one has a patent over those colors and you would think people could wear whatever color they want.
