first of all, hail is not a nazi term... its like saying that we cant use the word guten tag because some nazi probably used it!
read a book or something, if you read viking books they always say for example: Hail thor son of thain!

the problem is, that "heil" is just a word like "hail", but when you say in germany "heil" everyone immediately is thinking "oh, he said heil, he is a nazi..." although its just a normal word

nazis are from germany and hail means in german heil, i know that, i'm coming from germany ;-), but nazis also said "hallo" (in english: hello) and "auf wiedersehen" (in english: good bye)

LOL dude, I replied to a user who said that "Hail Manowar" etc is related to the nazis, and I said that nazis use "heil" as in "sieg heil", and not "hail from bulgaria" or something like that. Hail is an ancient form saluting a hero or such, and BTW: I'm not a nazi. I'm more of a left-oriented guy.
