Baltsa had a very beautiful and peculiar voice!

Thanks a lot for this... Domingo is "forcing" a bit - on the verge of its limits - but Baltsa is just magnificent. The "Réponds à ma tendresse", especially during the "reprise", is memorable. What an artist!

This is very interesting... I'm so accustomed to those "Mon coeur s'ouvre à ta voix" that ooze conspicuous sexuality that it takes a minute to get used to this sharper version. Baltsa looks conflicted by her plight here, which is much more likely how Dalila would have felt if there were ANY love in her for Sampson.

What a pleasure to hear such smart artists!
Baltsa, being a mezzo-falcon as opposed to a real alto, has an edge to her voice.
Appropriately she turned that to her complete advantage by acting an edgy and eager Dalila rather than a laid back one...
Domingo, at home with the role and a partner with such insight, gives his absolute best!

Wonderful! I found Baltsa's interpretation very interesting, she acts a Dalila that is always pretending and never looks as if having much pleasur in seducing Samson. It's a less romantic but very intelligent characterization. And vocally Baltsa and Domingo are the ideal partners! Both have voices with ardour and incredible expressivity. Their presence on stage together is fiery!

What Baltsa was able to do here was sing rich and sensual, but not sound old. Too many mezzos sound like my grandmother (granted, one who could sing well). How sensual is that? She's very sexy with her voice. I love that about her.
