The driver of the Bonneville is the same bad ass that drove the Charger in "Bullitt", he has longer hair and sideburns "a la" 1973. Check it out.

When this film came out in 1973, it was obvious that it was an unofficial sequel to the French Connection and of course it had to have a car chase that tried to outdo the FC car chase. What makes this sequence great is that everything about it is first-class--the editing, the acting, the way that it progresses in a logical manner, and the skill of the drivers. If this were a car chase in a Michael Bay film it would be just one big mess and a lot of random crashes.

at 1:36 you can see that the Ventura is in neutral!

Great car chase, one of my favourites. This movie is not widely known among car chase afficianados. Everything is recycles from Bullit including the chase car engine noise, to the cars catching air over changes in elevation to the bad guy driver. Only the ending of this chase beats the ending of the Bullitt chase by a mile!

Classic chase, with two very "bland" pontiacs. A Grandville, and a GTO (ventura). Give me a break!

It wasn't a ventura, It was a 73-74 GTO, and they sound alike because there was sound affects, neither car can move as fast as they did.
