The freedom of speech is limited to when it interferes with others rights. That's why you can't threaten people, slander, or yell "FIRE!" in a crowded building.

I didn't say that was a Constitutional right to business. I said there is no provision in the Constitution which calls for government intervention of the marketplace.

Don't try to saddle me with sloppy "facts." Keep trying, though.

I disagree on the metaphor for "marketplace of ideas" - it swings closer to populism than a more rational meritocracy, plus merketplaces are also regulated by what and how they sell their products.

But I do agree that people do not have the right to not be offended.

what has that got to do with the first amendment, you don't have to be qualified to have a well formed opinion, its ironic really because your mud slinging as opposed to a reasoned response to his arguments offends me, but as a part of a free society i recognize your right to say it.

"What came to be ... known as "clown college" was actually a 3-month extended audition for Ringling Brothers' Circus. Hopefuls would be taught juggling & mime & watched to see if they were capable of picking up such skills. Penn did not pass the audition & so was not offered a job.

An open academic environment where all are free to explore & express ideas, including minority opinions and opinions dissenting from the status quo, would not be something Penn Jillette experienced."
